The story behind Vaishali’s casting in KAL KISSNE DEKHA

Director Vivek Sharma has an interesting story to narrate about the casting of newcomer Vaishali Desai in KAL KISSNE DEKHA. It was by a stroke of luck that she landed a plum role in the film which is a launch pad of Jackky Bhagnani, son of prominent film maker Vashu Bhagnani who is producing the film.
“It is all ‘taqdeer’ that Vaishali is in the film”, says Vivek who has earlier directed Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in BHOOTHNATH, “My friend Kapil Khadiwala had introduced Vaishali Desai to me long time back. While casting for the film, I thought of her but unfortunately had lost her number. I didn’t know how to contact her but then again, it was Kapil who came to my rescue. He helped me get in touch with her and rest, as they say, is history.”
Apparently, Vivek was quite anxious when it came to getting the right face for the film. A big budget film that was all set to be the launch pad of the producer’s son, no stone was left unturned before Vaishali was zeroed in as the leading lady.
“I used to wonder who would get to star in this big launch film”, reflects Vivek, “I actually met almost 300 girls. I didn’t audition them but just met them two to three times to read their creative elements and to see if they are imaginative enough to get my film and the character. Very few actors have that inborn quality to hold a film with consistency and no one appealed to me.”
No wonder, Vaishali seemed to have that inborn quality, as can be seen from the fact that she got the film in the second meeting itself with Vivek. And that too without any audition!
“After locking in Vaishali as the film’s heroine opposite Jackky, the next big challenge was to find an actor who had to play the important role of a Professor Verma. This is where Rishiji (Kapoor) came into picture. Once he was on board, I had my principal cast of KAL KISSNE DEKHA in place”, smiles Vivek who is now eagerly looking forward to the release of the film.
“KAL KISSNE DEKHA is a film close to my heart since I observed my own life and incidents attached to it and wrote the film”, says Vivek in an emotional tine, “I had come up with an idea, that of a boy who could see the future, way back in 2001. In a way, it’s a true story because it’s my own story. I have visions and I get glimpse of future or things which are about to happen. Till date I have no clue why it happens but the underlining fact is that yes, it does happen!”
With music by Sajid and Wajid, KAL KISSNE DEKHA also stars youngsters like Akshay Kapoor, Kunal Kumar and Nushrat Bharucha in supporting roles and is all set to release on 1st May.
